Responsibilities
El Paso Behavioral Health System is a private 167-bed psychiatric hospital located in El Paso, Texas, specializing in mental health and chemical dependency care. Qualifications
NOTE - This is a Per Diem / PRN role.
Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Recreational Therapy, preferred.
Experience: One (1) year of related experience in recreational/activity therapeutic services, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness, preferred.
Licensure: Certification for Recreational Therapist, Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.
Additional Requirements: Handle with Care training must be completed within 90 days of employment and prior to assisting in any restraining procedures. Competencies will be administered within 90 days of hire and annually via test taking, return demonstration, or the use of simulation. Required to work flexible hours, overtime for hourly staff, some holidays, and weekends. TB Test and CPR certification must be completed prior to working with patients. Must have knowledge of CMS, TJC, TAC, OSHA, state and federal regulatory requirements, and hospital policies.
