Job Description

Oregon Allergy Associates is looking for an experienced candidate to join their dynamic team of health care providers as an Allergy Immunotherapy Specialist. If you are an energetic Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Registered Nurse (RN) who would like a unique opportunity in a well-established specialty clinic, then this is the position for you. 

 

Primary Objective:

The Immunotherapy Specialist administers allergy injections in a high-volume allergy clinic seeing 120+ patients per day. Follows clinic protocols to develop immunotherapy vials for patients of Oregon Allergy Associates (OAA) under the direction of physicians and providers. The Immunotherapy Specialist supports the goals and the objectives of OAA and must demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description below. Training will be provided on all aspects of this position, including USP 797 certification.

Compensation: Range is $25 - $29/hour depending on experience and readiness to perform the essential functions

 

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 8am - 5pm, half day on Friday's!

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Administers allergen immunotherapy.
  • Monitor patients and initiate treatment for anaphylaxis under provider supervision.
  • Mixes, dilutes, and prepares serum for patient allergy injections according to formulary.
  • Coordinates with clinic personnel regarding the procedures and techniques to be followed in serum mixing and preparation according to USP 797 guidelines.
  • Organizes supplies and materials needed for immunotherapy.
  • Other allergy and mixing related duties as assigned.
  • Communicates effectively with other members of the health care team, including accurate documentation in patient medical records.
  • Manage shipping out of antigens to other offices.
  • Maintains supplies, equipment and restock at the end of each day.
  • Assists with inventory tracking, ordering supplies and materials needed for immunotherapy
  • Cleans and sterilizes workstation.
  • Follows HIPAA policies and procedures. Respects and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Follows OSHA regulations and guidelines of the practice.
  • Performs specific job duties assigned.
  • Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the position.
  • The ability to work on-site.
  • Predictable, reliable, and prompt attendance.
  • Fulfills other duties as may be assigned based upon evolving needs of the employer.

Education:

  • High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
  • CMA, LPN, or RN certification or diploma from an accredited vocational institution, a community college program or equivalent.

Other Requirements:

  • Current CPR certification preferred and current health records with the appropriate immunization to work in the health care field (Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis).

Clinical Competencies:

  • Administering injections.
  • Must be accurate with dosage computation.
  • Experience with laboratory clean room preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical records.

Physical Demands:

 

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, stand,bend, twist, and crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Requires walking on non-level surfaces, inside and outside the office, throughout the day.
