JOB DESCRIPTION - Application Engineer - Control Products

 

Summary: The candidate will assist  in growing sales of control products by utilizing their experience in applying high-performance AC vector drives communicating with PLCs in automated systems over a variety of network protocols with a focus on converting high-volume target accounts. Be a technical expert for  employees and customers on related  products and applications. Execute projects through accuracy of product selection, dissemination of knowledge, and assistance in product sales effort as required.

Essential Duties:


  • Provide technical expertise in the Control Products group for application of AC vector drives in a variety of applications.

  • Travel to domestic sites as required for sales presentations, evaluation of customer needs, application verification assistance, and technical support

  • Give pre-sale selection and application assistance for AC vector drives and inverter/vector duty motors

  • Assist the Product Manager in the creation of sales tools, marketing documentation, and product launches related to AC vector drives

  • Provide product training to  US sales force and customers

  • Provide ongoing input to Engineering and Quality on product issues

  • Provide post-sales support, both via phone and in-person when required

  • Identify and implement system and process improvements

Qualifications:

  • Education: BSEE, BSET, or BSME or equivalent experience.

  • Experience: 5-7 years in the application and integration of AC Vector Drives and/or related components into automation systems communicating via a variety of networks including EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, DeviceNet, PROFIBUS, AS-Interface, and EtherCAT.

Knowledgeable in related power and automation system components such as motors, reducers, HMIs, I/O components

Experience in applying AC vector drives in closed-loop position control applications

Has worked with volume OEM accounts

Familiar with standard industrial sales channels and customer classes

Experience with PLC programming and network automation is preferred.

  • Physical Requirements: Work at a computer up to several hours at a time. Ability to review work in shop (assembly & manufacturing) for technical consultation. Ability to work in engineering shop area testing products. Ability to do field service calls at industrial sites across the country (construction & factory). If extensive manual labor is required others will be called upon to assist in the service call. Ability to travel up to 40%
