Definition of Class

This position serves as an alumni relations representative for various academic and non-academic departments, committees, and organizations. The incumbent plans and coordinates events; preparing and monitoring organizational budgets; maintaining correspondence with alumni, friends, and students; and managing service projects associated with the promotion of the Alumni Association and the University.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Oversees the Alumni Association's M-Club program for former letter winners.
  • Serves as the alumni officer for at least two schools within the university.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with Alumni and friends from specified schools and organizations.
  • Develops and monitors annual budgets for assigned constituent groups and programs.
  • Oversees and maintains communication with out-of-state clubs and form new clubs to expand Alumni Association programming.
  • Represents the Alumni Association at meetings and other University functions and participates in events.
  • Analyzes, compiles, and reports on non-academic friend-raising and fund-raising projects.
  • Plans, coordinates, and participates in activities and service projects for various constituent groups and the Alumni Association.
  • Prepares, reviews, and signs contracts with event venues and caterers.
  • Provides supervision and guidance to support staff.
  • Organizes and participates in various events, reunions, and other alumni activities.
  • Promotes club events through print mail, social media and email communications.
  • Works with clubs to create scholarships and secure funding to endow scholarships.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

  • Plans, coordinates and assesses events and projects.
  • Represents the University and the Alumni Association at various meetings and functions.
  • Interacts and builds relationships with alumni and other external constituents.
  • Prepares and monitors budgets.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education:
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.


AND


Experience:
Two (2) years of experience related to the above described duties.


Substitution Statement:

Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
