Job Description

The primary purpose of you job position is to assist the Director of Nursing Services in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day to day functions of the Nursing Service Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and may be directed by the Administrator, the Medical Director, and/or the Director of Nursing Services, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained all times. Qualifications 

This position requires a current valid license as a Registered Nurse issued in the state where the person will practice from an accredited school of nursing. 

Two years of professional nursing experience in the long-term care setting is required, and a minimum of one-year experience in nursing administration or a comparable management position. 

Must be able to demonstrate leadership and organizational skills, and provide positive attitude, direction, and discipline for the nursing staff. 

Knowledge of long-term care management, policies, budgeting, personnel management, and census development is required.

  Must have a thorough knowledge of the specialized procedures applied, and equipment used, in the assigned unit.

Up-to-date physical assessment skills and comprehensive knowledge of nursing principles are required. Must be CPR certified. Special Requirements Must be able to work evening and weekends as needed. Must be available on an “on-call basis” Physical Requirements Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, push, pull, lift and walk continuously throughout the working day. Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and Hepatitis B virus. Ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents. Is subject to work with medical and electrical equipment. Must be free from infection or diseases. May not have any restrictions/limitations in lifting, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling etc.
