OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

 

The primary responsibility of your job position is to assist with planning, organizing, developing, and directing overall operation of our Nursing Service Department to ensure adequate and appropriate staffing of the facility nursing department to meet the needs of the residents based on budget, census, and as may be directed by facility administration current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern long term care and assisted living facilities.   You are entrusted to ensure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to our residents at all times and delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Update business office with current posting of all employees’ contact information.
  • Assist with recording keeping for facility in-service education, orientation, tardiness, absenteeism, and performance appraisals.
  • Report excess tardiness or absenteeism to Director of Nursing Services.
  • Complete nursing department employee records upon hiring, job reclassification, and discharge.
  • Work with Director of Nursing when scheduling modified work duty employees in accordance with work restrictions and facility policy.
  • Assist employees in accurate completion of forms (i.e., leave and day off requests, timecards, etc.) pertaining to scheduling and staffing.
  • Complete monthly nursing schedule coordinating requests to ensure appropriate coverage of units.
  • Answer employee calls regarding staffing/scheduling functions.
  • Review complaints and grievances pertinent to scheduling and staffing.  Make necessary oral/written reports to DNS.
  • Confirm license/certification and current standing with state approved agencies for all new hires prior to orientation day.
  • Conduct orientation.
  • Attend corporate HR trainings.
  • Provide each newly hired nursing personnel with orientation schedule.
  • Assign staff member to provide orientation.
  • Ensure that work/assignment area is clean, equipment needs are met, and supplies are properly stored.

 

ADON DUTIES:

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing service department, as well as its programs and activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and periodically update written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department.
  • Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary.
  • Determine the staffing needs. 
  • Recommend the number and level of nursing personnel to be employed.
  • Assist in calculating the number of direct nursing personnel care on duty each shift.
  • Ensure that all nursing assistants are enrolled in or have graduated from an approved training program.
  • Develop work assignments and schedule duty hours.
  • Make daily rounds of the nursing service department to ensure all nursing personnel are performing their work assignments.
  • Review complaints and grievances made or filed by department personnel.
  • Ensure that disciplinary action is administered fairly.
  • Participate in the interviewing and selection of residents for admission.
  • Develop a written plan of care for each resident that identifies the problems/needs, indicated the care to be given, goals to be accomplished, and which professional service is responsible for each element of care.
  • Prepare and plan the nursing service department’s budget and submit to the Administrator.
  • Schedule, attend, and participate in nursing service meetings.
  • Demonstrate a passion for caring as evidenced by interaction with co-workers, residents, families, and visitors.
  • Perform all other duties, as assigned.

 

 

                   THE MUST HAVES:

  • Must have, as a minimum, one (1) year of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related health care facility.  Must have, as a minimum (6) months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices. 
  • Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in Colorado, CPR Certification
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check as well as Colorado CAPS background check. 
  • COVID Vaccine Required or Valid Exemption.
