Job Title:  Assistant Teacher - Child Care

 

Location:  Ascension All Saints, Little Saints Daycare

Hours:  Full Time, Days, 40 hour work week, non exempt

 

Work Schedule:  Monday-Friday. Scheduled between 5:45am-6:00pm.

What You Will Do:

Assist with the planning and implementation of daily activities for assigned class.

  • Assisting in the planning, preparation, and overseeing of child safety in the classroom and every setting with a supportive environment in which children can learn through play.
  • Monitoring child attendance, with constant awareness of each child’s whereabouts.
  • Assisting in organizing and providing developmentally appropriate early childhood education programs; assisting in the development and implementation of child-led/teacher-guided lesson plans for children ranging in age from four weeks to twelve years old.
  • Assisting in the provision of activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, self-sufficiency, and problem-solving skills appropriate to the developmental levels and learning styles of children.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of written individual assessments of each child's development, for use in reflective lesson planning and progress reporting to parents;
  • Interacting with parents, maintaining open and cooperative communication, and encouraging their involvement.
  • Assisting to ensure that assigned equipment and materials are adequately maintained in safe working order and recommend new equipment as appropriate;
  • Maintain positive communication with supervisors, colleagues, child's parents/guardians and incorporate their recommendations into the child's daily routine.
  • Creates opportunities for enhancing student skills. Plans and implements activities that are consistent
    with student abilities, interests and educational plans.
  • Assists with school inclusion, inclusion in alternate school settings, the development of appropriate
    curriculum, workshop/life skills, speech and language, art, music, and adaptive physical education.
  • Provides staff in-services.
  • Maintains data and other records according to protocol.
  • Displays enthusiasm and appropriate energy level to maintain students motivation, cooperation, and
    participation.
  • Encourages student independence in communication, decision making and other activities.
What You Will Need:

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.

Work Experience:

  • Some childcare training/experience preferred.
Additional Preferences:

Some experience is highly preferred, i.e. 40 full days or 80 half-days at a licensed child care center.
