About the Position 

This First Transit location is located in Capitol Heights, Maryland, where we operate paratransit service as well as provide vehicle maintenance for WMATA/MetroAccess.  As an Automotive Mechanic with First Transit, you will perform vehicle maintenance and repairs to ensure vehicles are safe for our customers. You will also:

  • Assist with preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
  • Assist in accurately diagnosing and performing mechanical repairs
  • Ensure work orders are completed properly and accurately. 
  • Assist with road calls and emergency services as necessary.

Qualifications  

  • A vocational or technical degree in vehicle maintenance is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • 1-2 years of automotive maintenance & repair employment experience or a combination of education & experience.
  • Must have appropriate mechanic’s toolset.
  • ASE certifications are preferred. Must participate in company ASE certification program (company training, testing, and bonuses provided!)
  • Be subject to a drug test.
