Job Description

Oregon Allergy Associates is looking for an experienced candidate to join their dynamic team of health care providers. If you are an energetic Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who would like a unique opportunity in a well-established specialty clinic, then this is the position for you. 

 

In this role, you will work closely with your Physician/Advanced Practitioner in a team approach. Patient visits are currently documented using a scribe model which allows for staff members to become much more knowledgeable about the disease processes impacting allergy patients, and the appropriate treatment plans to impact their lives in a positive way. Assistants in this office are very hands on, performing the majority of the in-house procedures for the health care provider. 

 

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, working well with patients and coworkers. Will be a team player, willing to fill in where needed and show flexibility during busy times. Take the initiative to see a need and fill it as well as give feedback and suggestions for workflow updates and process improvements. Immunotherapy Program: Wage increase upon completion of the on-the-job training for immunotherapy which includes successfully demonstrating the calculation and administration of immunotherapy as well as passing the written exam. 

 

Schedule: Monday - Thursday 8am - 5pm, Friday 8am - 12pm

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned that may include assisting patients as needed with collecting specimens and preparing for exams; collecting patient history, including screeners per provider guidelines; assisting providers/nurses with various procedures, including pulmonary function tests, skin testing, biopsies, laryngoscopy, EKG’s and more; charting; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information.
  • Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned that may include sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining diagnostic reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics, processing medical prior authorizations; managing and updating charts to ensure that information is complete and filed appropriately; checking schedules and organizing patient flow.
  • Fulfills medical scribe duties as assigned that involve remaining in the exam room alongside the provider to document accurate, relevant information within the electronic medical record; thoroughly documenting the medical visit and procedures along with the chief complaint, medical history, physical exam, past surgical history, patient education and explanation of risks and benefits, provider dictated diagnoses, prescriptions, and instructions.
  • Fulfills clinical back-office responsibilities that vary according to state law, which may include medical/surgical asepsis; checking vital signs or measurements; procedure preparations; clinical pharmacology; drug administration through various routes including injections; prescription verifications with physician's orders; biohazard waste disposal and monitoring; therapeutic modalities.
  • Fulfills other duties as may be assigned based upon evolving needs of the employer.
  • Reliable attendance and presence at work.

Education:

  • High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • CMA or LPN certification or diploma from an accredited vocational institution, a community college program or equivalent.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a clinic setting preferred, we provide excellent training and support for our new staff. 

Other Requirements:

  • Current CPR certification preferred and current health records with the appropriate immunization to work in the health care field (Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis).

Physical Demands:

 

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, stand, bend, twist, and crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Requires walking on non-level surfaces, inside and outside the office, throughout the day.
