Job Description

As a Direct Service Worker for Brightcare Homecare, your job description is defined as:

Home Services, In-home Services, or in Home Support Services-assistance with actives of daily living, also known as ADLs, housekeeping, personal laundry, and companionship provided to an individual in his or her personal residence which are intended to enable that individual to remain safely and comfortably in his or her own personal residence. “Home Services” does not include services that would be performed by and individual licensed under the Nurse Practice Act. Home care services are focused on providing assistance that is not medical in nature, but is based upon assisting the client in meeting the demands of living independently and maintaining a personal residence such as companionship, cleaning, laundry, shopping, meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, shopping, meal preparation, dressing, bathing. Services that cannot be met by a Direct Service Worker will be referred to another agency.

 A Home Services worker or In-home Services Worker-an individual who provides home care services to a consumer in the consumers personal residence. Please see the below job ad you’ve applied for to further explain the expectations of your role as a DSW.

We are looking for a compassionate CNA/HHA to provide assistance in daily living and personal care services in patients homes in accordance with an established care plan.

Must be able to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide health care services in patients residences
  • Perform domestic and household tasks
  • Transport and accompany patients to doctors office or to hospital
  • Administer simple prescribed medications
  • Assist with clients personal care activities
  • Monitor patients (vital signs, temperature, respiration, etc) and report on their condition
  • Maintain patients care records and document provided services
  • Assist patients with mobility and physical therapies/exercises
  • Instruct and counsel patients and families on diet and exercise
  • Collect routine specimens
  • Provide companionship and basic emotional or psychological support

Skills

  • Proven working experience as home health aide
  • Ability to monitor vital signs and to collect specimens
  • Familiarity with basic nutrition and personal hygiene standards
  • Proficiency in English
  • Nursing and health care administration skills
  • Caring and compassionate personality
  • Current CPR certificate
  • First Aid training
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High school degree
