Job Description

Inspire Specialty Hospital is a 31 bed Long Term Acute Care Hospital located in Midwest City.

We are looking for qualified Certified Nurse Assistants & Nurse Techs to work on day shift and/or night shift. Hospital experience preferred. The employee will be scheduled three 12 hour shifts per week. Overtime is often available. 

The Nursing Technician is responsible for nursing care and support of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The following skills are REQUIRED for you to perform independently, or have performed in practice/simulation or clinical setting before you start employment.

Skills/Procedures:

Infection Control

·         Application of PPE

·         Isolation Precautions

·         Sharps disposal

Fall Precautions

·         Fall Risk

·         Fall Prevention Strategies

Bedmaking

·         Making occupied bed

·         Making unoccupied bed

Personal Hygiene

·         Showering a Patient

Use of Shower Chair

·         Bathing a Patient

·         Oral Care

·         Pericare

·         Use of bedside commode

Vital Signs

·         Heart Rate

·         Respiratory Rate

·         Blood pressure

·         Temperature (oral, temporal artery, axillary)

·         Weight (standing, bed)

·         Pulse Oximetry

Restraint Application & Monitoring

·         Nonviolent – (e.g. soft wrist restraint)

·         Violent – (e.g. locked restraint)

Mobilizing Patients

·         Mobility/Strength assessment

·         Gait Belt application & mobilization

·         Mobilizing patient with walker

·         Mobilizing patient with wheelchair

Tubes and Drains – purpose, location, emptying/ measurement of output (as appropriate)

Point of Care Testing

·         Glucometer

·         Hemoccult

Pulmonary Toilet

·         Effective Cough

·         Incentive Spirometry

Venous Thromboembolism Prevention

·         Application of Compression Stockings (e.g. TED hose)

·         Application and assessment of Sequential Compression Devices (SCD)

Feeding

·         Adult 1:1

·         Swallowing Precautions
