Job Description

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Function: Provide routine daily nursing care and services that support the care delivered to residents needing skilled nursing care/complex medical care or rehabilitative care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse. This position is responsible for delivery of quality service, promoting good public relations, and for upholding the mission and standards of the facility.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain a clean and safe resident environment.
• Recognize abnormal changes in body functioning and the importance of reporting such changes to a supervisor.
• Perform routine care rounds on each assigned resident, at minimum, every two hours (or more frequently as indicated).
• Supervise, assist, or provide ADL's such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
• Utilize proper techniques and devices to transfer and postion/re-position a resident.
• Provide preventative skin care techniques, observe the resident's skin condition and report any changes to a licensed nurse.
• Demonstrate the ability to manage and respond appropriately to resident behaviors.
• Approach all residents in a kind, gentle, and friendly manner.  Respect for the resident's dignity and privacy is consistently provided.  Maintain the confidentiality of all resident information.
• Ensure safety/security to all residents of the facility at all times.
• Assist residents in getting to appointments as scheduled with support and supervision.
• Work with other employed staff as a positive team to ensure the success and happiness of the residents.
• Encourage residents to speak their concerns and refer to therapist if needed.
