Franklin Restorative Care Center is a skilled nursing facility for living with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia with personalized care. Services include complex medical care, subacute care, dementia care, respite care, therapy services, and more.
Job Summary:
A Certified Nursing Assistant’s primary responsibility is to assist patients with their daily activities. Your daily responsibilities will be to deliver direct care to patients (bathing, toileting, feeding, grooming, etc.) as directed by the RN or LPN in charge. Your role will be to maintain patient comfort and safetywhile adhering to all departmental policies and procedures as well as safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

Job Responsibilities:
- Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary and ambulating, turning, and positioning patients; and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
- Provides adjunct care within the scope of practice and as directed by the Charge Nurse.
- Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients’ call lights and requests; and reporting observations of the patient to the nursing supervisor.
- Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
- Maintains work operations by following administrative and clinical policies and procedures.
- Protects the organization’s value by keeping patient information confidential.
- Serves and protects the resident community by adhering to professional standards, facility policies and procedures; federal, state, and local requirements.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and maintaining licensure.
- Enhances nursing department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Essential Job Functions:
- Conducts observations and forwards information to the appropriate person
- Responds promptly to all call signals and requests for assistance.
- Interpret the department’s policies and procedures for employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc. as necessary
- Submit incident/accident reports to the supervisor or Administrator at the time of the occurrence
- Function as an effective member of the Health Care Team in response to care planning
- Assist with protocols and recommendations of therapists, such as physical or occupational therapy
- Ensure antiseptic techniques and good hand washing practices for infection control, as well as utilizing universal precautions are practiced
- Check equipment and to assure that necessary equipment is available and in good working condition
- Must be able to cope and handle the emotional and mental stress of the position
- Ability to function effectively, productively, and calmly
- Involve the resident/family in planning objectives and goals for the resident
- Communicates with non-clinical staff, nursing service, and other department supervisors
- Maintains a liaison with other department supervisors to adequately plan for resident activities
- May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals
- May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc, including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses
- Maintain resident confidentiality and staff confidentiality; treat staff and residents with kindness, dignity and respect
- Comply with Resident’s Rights
- Performs other related duties as assigned
CNA Skills and Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Knowledge of relevant nursing care
- Friendly and professional bedside manner
- Maintain current CPR certification
- Multi-tasking skills
- Effective oral, written, and reading communication skills
- Understands legal implications of patient care
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Current certification or desire to complete an accredited training course through the State of Minnesota
