Job Summary and Qualifications

· Under general supervision initiates, assesses and evaluates all forms of respiratory therapy including bronchodilators, chest physical therapy, oxygen therapy and ventilator care.

· Exercises technical knowledge in respiratory anatomy, physiology and pathology as well as the design and operations of respiratory therapy equipment.

· Verifies and signs all new orders for respiratory care. Assures that all physician orders coincide with current department policy.

· Analyzes all patient data and makes appropriate clinical decisions and proper recommendations.

· Administers, monitors and documents therapy in Meditech per department policy.

· Demonstrates the ability to utilize all modes of oxygen therapy when needed.

· Notifies appropriate personnel of any adverse reaction and takes steps to ensure patient safety.

· Demonstrates the ability to properly utilize good organizational and time management skills to maximize productivity. Demonstrates knowledge and clinical competency in drawing arterial blood from radial, brachial and femoral sites, which includes punctures and a-lines.

What qualifications you will need:

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP required.
• Florida Certified Respiratory Therapist 
• Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).

HCA Florida Palms West Hospital is a 204-bed facility in Palm Beach County. We offer preventative and elective programs and surgeries. We are an Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Primary Stroke Center.  HCA Florida Palms West Hospital has emergency services, a dedicated New Life Center and a Level II NICU. We have a full-service Children’s Hospital. Services include outpatient rehabilitation, an aquatics center, orthopedic spine center, robotics, and interventional radiology.
