Job Summary:

The Chief Plant Engineer is responsible for managing the activities of the Plant Engineering group and serves as a site mechanical engineering expert. The Plant Engineering team provides mechanical technical support to the Port Neal Complex to ensure that production units operate in the most safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally compliant manner possible. The Chief Plant Engineer will ensure that the group's work complies with good engineering practices and meets the needs of stakeholders, as well as providing opportunities for continuous professional development of the Plant Engineering team. Consistent and clear communication with other Engineering disciplines, EHS, Operations, and Maintenance is required to define and prioritize work and properly allocate resources.

Job Description:

1. Manage the daily activities of the Plant Engineering group, consisting of approximately 10 direct and contract personnel. This team covers mechanical engineering, reliability support, and inspections in nine operating units, storage and loading facilities, and general offsites areas. Responsible for the performance and development of these employees.

2. Support CF Industries' corporate goals to improve inclusiveness and diversity within the organization, continuous improvement of workforce safety, and increased engagement with the local community.

3. Manage requests for evaluation of mechanical equipment and piping from Operations, Maintenance, EHS, and Engineering departments. Assign Plant Engineering resources as necessary to assist in the evaluation and replacement of equipment.

4. Support the Project Engineering group by providing technical support as required to meet capital project needs.

5. Oversee continued development and improvements to the site mechanical integrity program.

6. Monitor resolution of mechanical-related action items generated by PHA studies, audits, Operating Standards, etc. to ensure responses are technically acceptable and provided in a timely manner.

7. Assess, prioritize, and manage engineering work requests generated by stakeholders at the facility. Assign Plant Engineering resources as necessary to address these requests. Manage the assigned resources to assure the plants needs are met in a safe and reliable manner. Review all site engineering work packages for quality and RAGAGEP compliance.

8. Support the corporate EHS Policy and programs by incorporating the applicable requirements into plant engineering programs. Continually evaluate ways to improve site safety, process safety, reliability, and environmental performance.

9. Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and EHS departments to ensure Plant Engineering is meeting the end user's needs and comply with all laws, regulations, and standards.

10. Be a corporate resource on API, ANSI, and ASME standards for mechanical equipment and piping fabrication, inspection, and repair. Support other CF operating facilities and corporate initiatives to improve company-wide design and inspection practices and provide technical support as needed.

11. Identify and develop Plant Engineer talent to improve group technical competency and work product.

12. Develop and manage the annual mechanical integrity budget.

Prerequisites:

1. BS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university is required (Mechanical Engineering preferred).

2. Ten or more years of engineering experience in the oil, gas, or chemical manufacturing industry is required; five must be at an operating facility.

3. Experience with ammonia, urea, and UAN processes is preferred.

4. Five or more years of experience with mechanical integrity is required.

5. Five or more years of hands-on in-plant experience is required.

6. Good communication skills (written and verbal) are required. Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with personnel at all levels in the organization and clearly document project scopes and justifications in writing.

7. Previous supervisory experience is required.
