Position Summary:
The Construction Manager will plan, coordinate, and supervise all Company construction projects from inception to completion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares and negotiates cost estimates, and work timetables
  • Selects appropriate construction methods and strategies
  • Reports on work progress and budget matters
  • Manages Service Channel, facilities and R&M
  • Collaborates with architects, engineers, and other construction building specialists
  • Instructs and supervises construction personnel, vendors, consultants and activities
  • Complies with legal requirements, building and safety codes, and other regulations
  • Schedules critical site visits for future, upcoming, active and completed projects
  • Reviews all plans prior to bid & construction to identify errors or needed updates
  • Performs detailed take-off of materials estimates from plans (tile, lighting & fixture counts, RTU’s, etc)
  • Reviews shop drawings and submittals
  • Performs and completes the punch list process for related projects
  • Manages the turnover to Operations/Facilities process
  • Follows brand standards and Company procedures
  • Manages Continuous Process Improvement program with architect’s (Design/plans standards & specs)
  • Participates in design and detail process
  • Regular and reliable in-person attendance

Job Qualifications
Education: AA degree or higher preferred

Experience: Five years of Construction experience in the restaurant/hospitality industry. Or, any similar combination of education and experience. Experience working cross-functionally to support Facilities, Operations, Design & Real Estate. Experience as a Project Manager managing multiple projects.

Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Office & Product Suites, as well as the Google Product Suite

Language Skills: Strong oral, written and presentation communication skills. Comfortable presenting to and working with the Executive Leadership team. Excellent relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Other Abilities: Ability to communicate with multiple trades and disciplines. Ability to understand restaurant operations, effectively collaborate with operations leadership, and build construction acumen. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Ability to provide organizational leadership and foster a team environment.

Reporting Relationships

Director, Design & Development or VP, Development

Major Business/Professional Contacts

Routine contact with Support Center cross-functional partners, Senior Leadership and Executive Team Members, and restaurant Team Members. Regular contact with vendors.

Working and Environmental Conditions

Typically functions in an office environment. Frequently travels to restaurants and potential sites via car or airplane, up to 75% of the time, or as needed. Generally works both indoors and outdoors, during all seasons and under all weather conditions, where temperatures may fluctuate from hot to cold. Occasionally works around heavy equipment and machinery. Noise level may fluctuate. Valid Driver License and State required insurance coverage required.

Physical Demands

Requires sitting for extended periods of time. Requires time in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting that may weigh up to 30 lbs.
