Today, The Chronicle serves the higher-education and nonprofit communities through two industry-leading news and information resources: The Chronicle of Higher Education and The Chronicle of Philanthropy.   

 

The Chronicle is seeking a Creative Services Director.  

 

This is a hybrid position requiring at least one day a week in our Washington, DC office. 

 

The Chronicle’s creative services team serves as the engine for all business initiatives, and is responsible for bringing the Chronicle’s brand, products, and services and those of our partners to life in print, digital, and multimedia forms and in using effective design to support the company’s revenue and strategic goals.

What you’ll do: 

  • Responsible for the overall quality of the creative work produced to support the business team. 
  • Manages the overall creative process from concept to completion for a variety of platforms. 
  • Leads the team in translating business objectives and brand strategies into on-brand creative execution. 
  • Shape company-wide branding, and business promotions for The Chronicle of Higher Education and The Chronicle of Philanthropy, all associate product lines, and advertiser products. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field. 
  • 10+ years of graphic design team management and art direction experience preferred. 
  • Proficiency on the MAC and Adobe Creative Cloud. 
  • Experience working in an in-house marketing department, design studio, or advertising agency is essential.
