POSITION TITLE
Data Analyst
LOCATION
This position is available to Virginia residents as Richmond, Virginia in-office applicants or remote applicants residing in states/locations under Eastern or Central Standard Time: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington DC, Vermont, West Virginia or Wisconsin.

Using the latest analytic tools and processes we’re able to analyze our data to provide strategic insight leading to transformational change. To help carry us even further, we are seeking a Data Analyst to join our expanding problem-solving team supporting our Long Term Care Claims Operations. This individual will harness the power of data to better forecast trends, build dashboards that measure effectiveness/efficiency, provide cost benefit analysis and project impact all while getting to present findings/insights to the leadership team.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
· Drive proactive advanced analytics and extracts data from multiple sources: Policy, Claims, and Customers Service and creates integrated reports to address business needs
· Responsible to perform analyses of structured and unstructured data to solve complex business problems utilizing advanced statistical and mathematical techniques and broad knowledge of insurance industry
· Develop and determine analytical approaches and techniques to evaluate business problems and potential future outcomes
· Interacts and collaborate with business partners in Policy, Claims, Customer Services, and Operation to understand their problems and goals and develop predictive modeling/statistical analyses
· Conceptualize, create, iterate and maintain dashboards for tracking key metrics and driving business recommendations and migrate dashboards to automation as a part of process improvement strategy
· Ensure the consistent application while refining and improving metrics as the company’s challenges and data evolves
· Build strong relationships with Senior Management to develop deep context about the organization initiatives and help shape strategy through data
· Develops and participates in presentation and consultations to existing and prospective constituents on analytics results and solutions.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
· A bachelor’s degree in an analytical field of study such as Mathematics, Business Analytics, Operations Research, Computer Science or Economics.
· Strong knowledge of how to manage and analyze structured and unstructured data using Microsoft Excel, SQL, and/or Python, R and Scala.
· Experience building clear and easy to understand dashboards and data visualizations using Spotfire, Tableau, Business Power Business Intelligence or Business Objects.
· Ability to present insights and make recommendations to Senior Management
· A highly analytical and curious mindset that can iteratively define relevant metrics and translate analytical insights to drive strategy, action and recommendations
· The proven ability to anticipate concerns and problem solve always with the end solution in mind
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
· At least 1 year of practical experience applying statistical methods or machine learning techniques such as linear regression or generalized linear regression, logistic regression, random forest and neural network.
· Data Engineering experience is a plus
· Experience with Internal Genworth Systems or background in the Insurance Industry
· When offices re-open this position could be fully remote with occasional travel to Richmond, VA or Lynchburg, VA.
