Your future duties and responsibilities
Our AWS DBA will support multiple database technologies in the AWS Cloud

The selected Candidate will:
• Install, configure, clone, maintain (upgrade and patch), and monitor databases
• Create, edit, troubleshoot, debug stored procedures
• Proactively recommend best database configuration practices to match performance and availability requirements established by CGI and our client
• Manage, support and maintain database technology and infrastructure, adhering to architectural guidelines and policies
• Automate recurring or redundant database tasks using scripts
• Provide technical expertise and hands-on support in consolidation and migration of databases to new hardware and platforms
• Provide the implementation of databases, storage structures, high-availability solutions, replication, and disaster recovery solutions
• Perform analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting and resolution of escalated issues
• Evaluate and research new database features, versions, and technologies
• Document database standards, guidelines, and best practices
• Work closely with Senior DBA, product development, project support, and technical operations to ensure delivery of database services within performance targets
• Participate in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of DBA tools to improve the effectiveness of tasks such as performance monitoring and tuning, recovery, and database change management processing
• Work with application development teams to tune SQLs for efficiency.
• Monitor production applications for performance and recommend improvements.
• Work with application development teams to backup and restore test data.
• Perform test data creation by de-identifying PII/PHI from production.
• Participate in design/code reviews to recommend the design efficiency
• Flexible to support after hours database activities

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• 1+ years database administration experience with Terabyte size databases in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redshift preferred
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent
• Demonstrated ability to solve systems, data, and database environment issues
• Experience with configuration, load balancing, backup/recovery, sizing and space management, SQL tuning, and diagnostics
• Outstanding troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently, establish priorities, meet deadlines
• Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and good work ethic
