Gilcrest Jewett Lumber Company, a Division of USLBM Is Seeking a Drafter for Our Waukee, IA Location.

Gilcrest Jewett Lumber Company is seeking experienced candidates for our Drafter position. We’re a people first company that’s passionate about continuous improvement. 

US LBM, a leading distributor of specialty building materials in the United States, has acquired Gilcrest Jewett Lumber Company, a building products dealer and manufacturer with five locations in Iowa.

How you will spend your days as a Drafter:

• Communicate with walk-in and contractor customers to discuss design ideas, and draft drawings to assist in construction of new or remodel work. Accurately draw the appropriate number and kind of plans and elevations.
• Communicate with sales staff and managers on project status and appropriate drafting charges, and complete projects on a timely basis.
• Communicate with municipal building officials regarding building specifications.
• Maintain and operate computer-aided drafting equipment. Keep current with the latest technologies, materials and building techniques.
• Develop a list of building materials as required.
• Assist customers in purchasing the project materials and sell to professional customers as required.

Drafter Requirements:

• Technical Skills. Computer Experience using MS Office Products.
• Knowledge. Previous building material knowledge. (Preferred). Knowledge of building codes and construction practices.
• Experience. One to two years’ college or trade school education in architectural drafting, or equivalent experience.
