We are seeking a seasoned marketing leader to join our fast-paced team, ready to make an impression and further develop the public profile of our company. In this cross-functional leadership position, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the direction of the marketing team and lead public relations, employee engagement, executive branding, corporate communications, vendor communications, and our prestigious Client Advisory Board. You will report to the Vice President of Marketing & Innovation and work with internal cross-functional teams, including executive management, field marketing, innovation, sustainability, electrification, and product development.

Location: Merchants Fleet Headquarters 

 

What your day will look like immersed in our GROWING culture:

  • Lead and manage corporate communications strategy & planning
  • Lead and manage public relations efforts, to include managing external agency, PR strategy, awards, media relations, placements, news, speaking events, and other PR activities promoting the wide range of work or the company
  • Proactively uncover compelling stories that align with the company’s key priorities, including promoting our growth, expertise and thought leadership
  • Manage incoming media inquiries
  • Lead corporate communications through email, digital, presentations, and events
  • Coordinate with colleagues to drive a consistent company narrative
  • Drive content, including press releases, thought leadership, messaging, presentations, executive briefing materials and more
  • Support CEO and executive brand & communications to include pitching, articles, keynotes, social media, media interview preparation & documents, and external communications
  • Support corporate events to include strategic events, client & industry events, employee events, and holidays
  • Lead execution of Client Advisory Board
  • Oversee company contact information and update systems as needed
  • Lead various special projects as determined by Vice President of Marketing & Innovation
  • Coach and develop team members to grow talent
  • Prudently manage business expenditures incurred while conducting job responsibilities

  • Strong verbal and written skills are required with a wide range of levels up to and including “C” level executives
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into compelling narratives for a wide range of audiences
  • Ability to manage projects and tasks effectively
  • Ability to work with executive leadership
  • Ability to foster relationships and maintain connections with internal & external partners
  • Ability to think critically, asking probing questions and anticipating and addressing gaps/needs
  • Ability to learn and utilize proprietary company software and on-line web based tools employed by the company
  • Effective presentation & productivity skills
  • Ability to be assertive, lead, and manage tasks diligently
  • Solutions-oriented and ownership mindset required 
  • Willingness to lead a team while also personally digging in and getting work done
  • Ability to work across multiple marketing functions
  • Ability to provide creative direction on design and written concepts

The Expertise you bring to Merchants Fleet:

  • 5-10 years of experience in a marketing leadership role
  • Proven experience in public relations
  • Excellent cross-group collaboration and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and experience managing more than one project at any given time
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint  

Preferred:  

  • Ability to write thought leadership articles
  • Experience in event management

 Education:

  • A college degree in a Marketing, Events or Communications degree program preferred
