Director, US Medical Strategy - Early Assets, Biomarkers & Diagnostics

The Director, Medical Strategy - Early Assets, Biomarkers and Diagnostic reports to the Senior Director, US Medical Strategy – Early Assets, Biomarkers & Diagnostics. This role will be a responsible for driving the enterprise medical strategies for early assets, biomarkers & diagnostics across the portfolio. He/She is accountable to evaluate, assess, design, enhance and develop long and short-term strategies to ensure operational excellence in launch and adoption of biomarkers and diagnostics. In addition, this role will integrate strategic imperatives for early assets to prepare the US marketplace for new molecular entities. This role will engage with key senior stakeholders to translate business insights into actionable strategies and tactics to meet customers’ needs. This individual is responsible for partnering with US Commercialization, WW Medical, publications/scientific content, translational medicine and HEOR to provide leadership in early assets, biomarkers and diagnostics across therapeutic areas with a particular focus on Hematology.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Identify knowledge and data gaps by engaging thought leaders, diagnostic companies and professional organization
  • Provide strategic input into early development and translational medicine plans based on US specific treatment landscape and market dynamics
  • Generate data to support biomarkers and diagnostics strategy
  • Partner with disease area teams to integrate early assets, biomarkers and diagnostics into ongoing priorities for in-line and emerging portfolio
  • Lead the development and execution of the medical strategy for early assets, biomarkers and diagnostics across the portfolio including Oncology, Immunology, Cardiovascular, and Hematology
  • Active leadership and participation as core member on key cross functional matrix meetings including close partnership with WW counterparts to ensure US market needs are addressed
  • Engage professional pathology societies and diagnostic companies to understand their strategic priorities and to identify opportunities for collaboration
  • Provide strategic direction and education to the Biomarker & Diagnostic MSLs
  • Partners with the US and WW Medical teams, Field Medical, Data Generation, R&D, Commercialization, and Finance teams to ensure business objectives are met and information is effectively communicated internally and externally
  • Collaborates and communicates with US Commercialization organizations to integrate medical perspectives into the commercialization process and ensure appropriate alignment between commercial and medical
  • Understands the internal/external competitive strategies and influence from US perspective to help support driving business goals and objectives

Requirements:

  • Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP) preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry and/or translational medicine
  • Extensive working knowledge in the drug development process
  • Ability to build and lead diverse and cross functional matrix teams
  • Healthcare landscape knowledge, insights, and launch expertise
  • Ability to organize and communicate complex scientific data
  • Ability to align others to support medical strategies and objectives
  • Excellent partnering, collaboration, influencing, and negotiation skills
  • Excellence in verbal & written communication skills (in English)
  • Experience in change leadership and managing complex cross-functional project matrix teams
  • Success in situations requiring rigorous, analytical problem solving and the ability to determine scientific opportunity and commercial targets
