Leidos is actively interviewing for an Exercise Planner to join our team at MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL.

This person shall provide exercise analysis services that supports MARCENT exercise design, planning, execution, and assessment.

Services shall include assisting in the management of the MARCENT Exercise Program.

This person shall assist in the development and review of exercise objectives, concepts, Mission Essential Task Lists (METLs), training plans, budgets, force deployment data, tables of organization, and force protection plans to ensure they meet requirements identified by higher headquarters as well as comply with Joint Staff and Service doctrine.

Because conferences will be overseas or in CONUS locations away from MARCENT, this person must have the ability to work independently with basic guidance to ensure successful conferences and ultimately successful multi-national, multi-service and muti-millon dollar exercises.

This person will be key to providing guidance and oversight to foreign military officers and US military officers on the support and execution of conferences and exercises.

This person must have the ability and experience to work and influence actions of senior foreign and US military officers. 

This person shall maintain MARCENT exercise-related web pages, historical files, and other required documentation.

This person shall maintain MARCENT Joint Training Information Management Systems (JTIMS) data. This person shall plan and coordinate all requirements for exercise planning conferences; to include writing message traffic, developing presentations, and arranging for travel and hotel accommodations. Coordinating with all stakeholders during the entire Joint Exercise Life Cycle is key ensuring conference and exercise success for all participants.

This person will focus of all participants on crafting the design of the exercise to accomplishing MARCENT exercise objectives as well as participating units’ exercise objectives. 

This person shall organize and assist with exercise planning conferences and site surveys.

Finally, this person shall develop and publish weekly briefings to COMUSMARCENT, the MARCENT Staff, and external units.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree and 15 years of relevant experience

- Active TS/SCI clearance

- Current US Passport and ability to travel overseas on short notice

- Command and Staff College, or service equivalent, complete

- Minimum 3 years planning experience at a MARFOR and/or Combatant Command level staff

- A thorough understanding of “Componency” as it relates to the inter-relationships between MARCENT, CENTCOM and the HQMC staffs

- Working knowledge of the complex interrelationships between Middle Eastern states, religions, and ethnic groups

- Working knowledge of regional US Embassies, SDO/DATT, and USLO structures

- Ability to interact with Colonels and Lieutenant Colonels at a peer level in order to advise and assist them with daily staff functions; and ability and comfort to brief at the executive level (3-4 star)

Preferred Qualifications

- Master’s Degree and 20 years of relevant experience

- Retired or Reserve USMC Lieutenant Colonel or Colonel

- Have prior relevant Joint Staff/COCOM/Component exercise experience 

- Experience working CENTCOM/MARCENT/NAVCENT Exercises.

- Service on both USCENTCOM (Combatant Command) and MARCENT (MARFOR) level staffs

- Familiar with staff planning tools: JTIMS, JOPES, and the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC)

- Long established interpersonal relationships with regional military leaders and staff members developed through face-to-face engagements

- Long established interpersonal relationships with key members of the USCENTCOM and Headquarters, US Marine Corps (Plans, Policy and Operations) staffs

- Knowledge of historical, current, and planned USMC force deployments to the CENTCOM AOR
