Job Description

The position holder:

  • Develops the vision & the medium and long-range strategy for the Enterprise Services Network, and manages a small professional team to provide specialist network support
  • Consults to relevant Functional Heads & their Service Centre leads to ensure alignment between Functional priorities and ESN vision and plans
  • Works closely with I&T Business partners to align on interdependencies and enterprise priorities
  • Develops the ESN roadmap, & ensures the ESN develops plans with appropriate visibility and integration of interdependences across functions and workstreams
  • Leads and directs complex cross – functional projects or the integration of multiple interrelated projects identified as critical to the ESN – in accordance with Company project management methodology
  • Resolves complex issues and interfaces between diverse project teams, senior level functional partners and stakeholders
  • Leads relevant ESN forums - Plans and coordinates business reviews, relevant governance discussions, resource allocations (in partnership with functions)
  • Provides strategic thought leadership across the network
  • Oversees the design, implementation and evaluation of innovative solutions that meet business/functional service centre objectives & continuous improvement targets. 
  • Implements governance and review of performance metrics and improvement opportunities across the ESN
  • Facilitates enterprise-wide communication of initiatives & stakeholder management

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities

ESN Strategy

Develops the vision & the medium & long-range strategy for the Enterprise Services Network in collaboration with relevant Functional Leads and their Shared Service Heads.

Strategic Program design and direction:

Collaborates with Functional Leaders and their Service Centre Leads to understand their functional priorities and to identify - functional ESN projects and program activities in alignment with these.

  • Support complex cross-functional projects or the integration of multiple interrelated projects identified as critical to the ESN
  • Motivates team members to achieve project objectives and desired program results.
  • Creates temporary performance (matrix) environments with effective governance frameworks enabling peak performance and team results.
  • Resolves complex issues and interfaces between diverse project teams, and stakeholders,
  • Works closely with Service Centre Leaders, Functional Sponsors, Steering Committees, and senior process leaders to overcome obstacles to project/program success.
  • Highly effective project and program management for transformation/ESN related initiatives with a keen understanding of interdependencies

Program Management/controls

  • Responsible to develop an integrated ESN roadmap, including Time, Cost, Performance (Scope) milestones, Resources, and Issue, Risk and Opportunity dependencies that could impact the delivery of the program.
  • Assures effective measurement and reporting processes in part so that critical variances to the integrated plan can be quickly and successfully addressed.
  • Maintains a broad view both of program objectives and processes and is able to negotiate and leverage resources from the relevant Functions to support the Program’s projects.
  • Assures that lessons are applied from previous projects and programs and directs assessments for mid-stream improvements on projects within the program and for utilization by future projects and programs initiated by the enterprise.

Communication and Change Management

  • Ensures effective team and internal/external stakeholder communication, keeping stakeholders informed of progress and issues in order to manage expectations on all requirements and deliverables
  • Ensures program information is fed into change and communication strategy and planning, and works closely with Leaders and functional management to define and deliver on expected deliverables and value.

Leads defined ESN forums - Plans and coordinates Leader and Business reviews, leads agreed governance discussions, initiates cross – functional resource discussions (in partnership with functions) and financial analyses. 

Provides strategic thought leadership across the network – maintains surveillance over competitive markets & identifies organisational strengths and weaknesses and business opportunities and best practise.

Service management Toolkit

Responsible for maintaining, changing and refining the Service Management Toolkit, leveraging internal and external practice

EST Group Leadership

  • Leads and manages a small professional team to provide expert support to the ESN
  • Accountable for critical deliverables for this team including budgeting, staff planning, talent development ad performance management
  • Represents the ESN across the global organization
  • Actively develops, supports and role models expected leadership behaviors

Position Qualifications and Experience Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor/masters degree in relevant discipline; Master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent preferred 

Experience

12+ years' relevant experience across disciplines including shared service/consulting expertise and program/project management experience 

  • Advanced leadership experience (10+ years)
  • Thorough knowledge of business strategy, pharma industry dynamics, portfolio management
  • Extensive experience working in a global matrix organisation
  • Extensive shared service experience
  • Exceptional leadership and the ability to influence others – and to communicate and influence executive leadership
  • Strong strategic planning, quantitative, and decision analysis capabilities.
