Job Description

• Locally owned chocolatier is looking for a quality-conscious cook / confectionery chef who has the ability to follow instructions and work in a team oriented environment. Chocolate and confectionery experience preferred but not required.

• Perform diligently alongside the master confectioner to learn Philadelphia's fine art of chocolate and confectionery making. Collaborate with plant manager.

• Responsibilities include the ability to prepare ingredients, cook batches at high temperatures, operate kitchen machinery, and process finished product.

• Communicate with office personnel and retail staff in order to ensure production demands are met and scheduled appropriately.

• Product selection includes brittle, caramel, caramel nut clusters, cherry cordials, creams (soft centers), Easter egg centers, english toffee, fondants and frappe, marshmallow, nougat, roasting nuts, and more.

• Signed confidentiality and non-compete agreement required prior to offer of employment due to the proprietary nature of recipes, supplier relationships, and cooking methodologies.

• Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Overtime opportunities may be available.

• Preferred experience: Educational background in baking, confectionery, and/or culinary arts. Work experience in food preparation, including kitchen staff and line chef, will be considered.

• Minimum experience: Hard work ethic, attention to detail, and desire to learn the job. Must be able to lift 25 pounds; ability to lift up to 50 pounds using both hands highly recommended.

• Must be able to follow all protective workplace safety rules set by employer.

• Pre-employment physical examination and drug screening required.

• Regulated by U.S. FDA and PA Dept. of Agriculture.
