Summary
The Finance Graduate will support the Finance Controllership team to provide reliable and timely financial information and strategic advice to the Board and other senior leaders to enable effective decision-making and execution of strategies.
Overall Responsibilities
The main responsibilities include:
- Contributing to the monthly and annual accounting and financial reporting for Genworth Australia and its subsidiaries, an ASX listed business which is also governed by APRA;
- Effectively collaborate with the extended Finance team and broader business - developing strong relationships to drive positive outcomes;
- Support internal and external audit activities and inquiries.
Monthly reporting
There is a broad array of reporting activities to get involved with, including, but not limited to:
- Initiating key finance journals via the new Cloud based SaaS SAP HANA S/4 solution;
- E2E ownership of Fixed Assets accounting and reporting;
- Maintaining strong and effective controls balance sheet reconciliation and attestation; and
- Movement analysis and reporting of key P&L and balance sheet accounts.
Internal Controls
- Genworth Australia will be migrating to a new Cloud based SaaS SAP HANA S/4 general ledger solution in February 2022 which will involve many changes in processes, controls and related documentation.
- All reconciliations to be completed on a timely basis, ensuring any unreconciled or uncleared items are clearly documented and communicated to all key stakeholders;
- Ensure that Finance team effectively conducts internal controls testing and reports any deficiencies to management on a timely basis;
- Ensure that critical business policies and procedures are regularly updated;
Qualifications/Experience – Required
- Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Major), or equivalent;
- Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office environment;
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail;
- Ability to contribute and work cohesively as part of a team;
- Communication – excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills; ability to develop relationships with team members, key stakeholders, and customers with a proactive attitude to resolve any issues;
- Planning and organising – ability to manage unpredictable workloads to effectively prioritise;
- Results orientation – ability to achieve results and focus on delivering outcomes;
- Strong accounting knowledge and understanding of journals, reconciliations and internal controls.
- The ability to adapt to changes in procedures and systems.
Qualifications/Experience – Highly regarded
- Experience working in a finance field;
- Commenced or desire to complete a professional qualification;
