Job Description

Performs patient customer service through provision of menu service, including menu selection, meal service and meal tray collection. Provides patients with information related to the physicians diet prescription for their care. Interacts with patients and their families, physicians, patient care managers, nursing, speech therapy, dietitians and other disciplines as needed. Functions to assist patient care manager to implement patient satisfaction, quality standards and outcomes.

• Work in a patient focused environment to help ensure proper nourishment for healing
• Transport and deliver meal trays to patients in accordance with established delivery procedures
• Ensures satisfaction of patients with food items upon delivery and assist with the set up of trays in patient rooms
• Assist patients with ordering meal trays over the phone and enter into computer system
• Ensure patients receive outstanding food service and customer service skills
• Participates in a fast paced flexible team environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong knowledge in food service from within a hospital, restaurant or a related environment.Excellent customer service skills and communication skills to effectively interact with a variety of people. The ability to work in close cooperation with nursing personal is required.Ability to multitask, route calls, greet patients, place orders, and troubleshoot food related issues.Ability to read and understand written and oral communications.Must be self-directed, able to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.Ability to maintain a friendly and cheerful demeanor, reflecting the culture of healing.Excellent phone etiquette.Strong knowledge and understanding of food/drug interactions and food allergens.Good organizational and time management skills.Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office or similar products. Ability to use e-mail and internet.
