Job Title: Full Stack Software Development Engineer

Introduction:

This role plays a part in the evolution of the shopping experiences retailers offer and help shape the future of retail. Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions provide services to retail clients worldwide by developing and delivering an array of custom software solutions such as point of sale (POS), customer loyalty solutions, self-checkout, and mobility solutions. The software engineer must be proactive to work in a dynamic, collaborative, and ever-changing environment. Responsibilities for this role includes working with a cross functional team while developing application software in an agile framework and supporting software test efforts. The position involves participation and contribution in all phases of application software development, from design inception through coding, delivery, and support. The candidate will need to communicate at different technical levels, from the application architects to the testers.The software developer is part of a team responsible for developing the next-generation software solutions for the Retail Marketplace. This role requires to work within an agile development team with minimal to no guidance. Responsibilities include working to develop the strategic next generation omni-channel transaction solution for Toshiba.

Responsibilities:

• Implements product features in Java using Object-Oriented principles. Designs, develops, and tests/debugs client and server-side code.
• Resolves complex technical challenges requiring a diverse scope of domain and discipline knowledge.
• Advises and reviews technical designs, implementations, and tests across multiple small-to-medium projects.
• Identifies opportunities to leverage existing assets (code, tooling, documentation) in new projects. Interfaces with internal & external teams to ensure alignment of deliverables.
• Performs as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for at least one product line.
• Mentors’ junior engineers and reviews code.
• Conducts knowledge-sharing or training sessions.
• Consults on and/or reviews release notes, test plans/cases, and functional specifications.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
• 6+ years professional experience in software development
• Ability to convert technical specifications from the design team or third-party vendors into software implementation.
• Experience building and supporting cloud based and client/server applications.
• Very strong analytical and Java programming skills
• Deep technical skills in software development technologies and tools such as DI, CI, Spring Boot, XML/JSON, Java, Docker and Maven
• Strong programming and analytical skills, problem determination and debugging, attention to detail, teamwork, and excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of software development concepts/methodology/life cycle, especially Agile methodology
• Proficiency with code versioning tools like Git
• Proficiency with Windows- and Linux-based operating systems, including software installation, light administration, and simple scripting.
• Fluent English Language. Speaking and written Skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of Swagger and REST design
• Retail domain experience
• Knowledge of non-relational databases such as MongoDB
• Experience with high data volume enterprise integrations using topics/queues
