Job Summary


The Design Director oversees delivery and provides leadership to teams of Interaction Designers who are responsible for all visual and interactive designs for mobile, web, and desktop custom applications for internal and external clients. The design Director assigns and allocates team resources, determines design strategies, sets a delivery schedule to meet client requirements, oversees the quality of all design deliverables, as well as owns all sales efforts regarding the company's design offerings. With the direction from the Head of Experience, Design Director works collaboratively across the organization with other practice areas to meet strategic objectives.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define and direct Design strategy and process for the integrated and scalable design team within the larger Experience practice
  • Establish Design strategy for various internal and external client projects and oversee the execution of strategies outlined in SOWs; support multiple projects through the entire User-Centered Design (UCD) lifecycle to digital solutions from user needs dentification to deployment
  • Establish, document, and communicate standards for all company Design deliverables, with the aid of Design team members
  • Support production of comprehensive Design deliverables (e.g., site maps, wireframes, visual comps, specs & assets, heuristics reports, etc.) to company standards
  • Work within highly effective delivery teams to deliver all design deliverables:
  • o On-time
  • o Within project parameters
  • o Up to company Standards
  • o To internal and external stakeholder satisfaction
  • o Targeting repeat engagement outcomes
  • Identify opportunities for follow on work within existing client projects
  • Create and maintain rapport with internal and external project teams, including stakeholders; effectively communicate with all parties
  • Direct training of a highly effective Design team, including soft and technical skill development; maintain an active internship program
  • Collaborate with Head of Experience and other practice areas (e.g., Research, Data Science, etc.) to develop and grow the company's offerings in order to deliver more value for clients
  • Own project estimate completion and quality; represent Design in pre-sales activities such as project estimations, writing proposals, meeting with clients
  • Serve as a Design and User Experience thought leader for internal and external stakeholders, and in the professional community
  • Contribute to billable client work at an agreed-upon utilization rate, primarily as Design visionary and strategist
  • Must be willing and available to travel and work on local client sites as required
