Home Health Aide (HHA)/ Unit Care Assistant

You will work alongside fellow caregivers to provide high quality patient care in a long term facility.

The Unit Care Assistant is a trained and certified health-care worker who is capable of providing assistance on the units along- side the Certified Nurses’ Assistant.

The Unit Care Assistants are limited to providing direct resident care while in the nursing facility however they are trained in performing personal care for residents.

Uniform:

The Unit Care Assistant will be well attired in accordanance with facility dress code.

Procedure:

The Unit care Assistant upon reporting to the unit will be given an assignment by the charge Nurse

The Unit Care Assistant may assist with the following duties on the unit.

Assist with Surveillance – Must continuously focus on the resident

· Communicate resident’s needs to the assigned CNA

· Answers call bells in a timely manner

· Assist with making beds and changing linens as directed

· Serves food trays

· Transports residents to and from activities

· Assist residents with hand washing before and after meals

· Assists with Tray Pick ups

· Reports to charge nurse any- thing that’s in disrepair

· May assist with feeding only after competency

· Reports any abuse, neglect or mistreatment to immediate supervisor

· Responds to alarms and reports to Charge nurse

· Assist with head count on unit

· Reports family and residents grievances and concerns to nurse

· Checks with nurse at all times regarding resident’s dietary restrictions for safety

· Reports all changes in resident’s status to charge nurse

· Prepares room and resident’s areas before admission.

· Respect residents rights, dignity and privacy

· Labels residents belongings

· Knocks before entering residents room

· Performs all assigned tasks in accordance with policy and procedures

· Will not perform direct resident care
