Overview
Our Human Resources Manager is responsible for managing all phases of a comprehensive human resources program.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field, or equivalent Human Resources or Personnel Management experience.
Experience:
- Five (5) years of experience in a HR Generalist or Supervisor capacity, prior experience leading or supervising a small team highly desired. Managing human resources within a mental health facility preferred. Experience with Joint Commission regulatory requirements preferred. Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
Licenses/Certifications:
- None required
- Manages, directs and supervises the staff and activities of the department. Plans and organizes staff and their activities to achieve the facility's mission and initiatives.
- Develops procedures and supplements that allow human resources staff to function efficiently and that are easy for facility staff to access and implement.
- Reviews Human Resources management throughout the facility to assure compliance with established federal, state and corporate policies and procedures.
- Reviews, evaluates, and directs staff development and training activities within the facility to assure compliance with accreditation standards and corporate policies and procedures. This includes monthly new employee orientation and in-services.
- Reviews, evaluates and directs the recruitment and retention activities within the facility to assure compliance with federal, state, corporate and accreditation standards, where applicable.
- Makes on-site visits to facility patient living areas and departments for exposure to employees, informal discussions and promotion of Human Resources assistance and availability of all staff.
- Reviews and evaluates employee safety issues and ensures information related to Workers' Compensation claims are maintained appropriately.
- Responsible for the employee relations program within the facility which includes grievances, disciplinary actions and supervisory training.
- Oversees the maintenance of personnel records in accordance with accreditation standards, where applicable, and corporate policies and procedures. This includes required background checks to include but not limited to, criminal, driver's license, education and credentials.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
- Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
- Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
- Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
