Stepan's Pasadena, TX site has a job opening for a Human Resources Manager. The primary responsibility of this position is to lead and support our most valuable resource, people. This position will lead recruiting, training and development to create strong teams and an inclusive culture. The incumbent will support the site teams to achieve the desired performance objectives outlined by corporate initiatives, business unit initiatives, and local/site initiatives. This position reports to the NA Regional HR Manger and partners with the Plant Manager and Oilfield Manager to prioritize tasks, optimize resources and support organizational improvements.
 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Recruiting and on-boarding activities for both hourly and salary positions, including but not limited to collaborating on the creation of job descriptions, leading the compensation review process, posting of positions, interview process, pre employment requirements and new hire orientation
  • Overseeing/providing performance management, coaching, development, succession planning, discipline process up to and including termination 
  • Maintaining files and site communication including but not limited to announcements, HRIS transactions, employee files, employee training records, community outreach and reports 
  • Creating, updating and maintaining department/site metrics and dashboards
  • Site contact for HR related questions, providing information relating to employees’ benefits, compensation and recognition  
  • Developing and implementing improvement plans in Employee Relations, providing direction and support to manufacturing facility leadership
  • Providing employees with effective training and development opportunities.  Coordinating overall employee training program and administration. Ensuring regulatory training is completed within the guidelines of the EHS&S training matrix.  Coaching employees, providing feedback and effectively communicating opportunities for improvement.
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining Human Resources Department policies and procedures
  • Managing key projects and activities that are internal and external to the facilities, including employee and community activities 
  • Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommend best practices
  • Leading and participating on assigned project teams, committees, and meetings 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HR in manufacturing environment 
  • Must have the ability and flexibility to support a continuous operating manufacturing site 
  • Strong communication skills are required
  • Ability to act with integrity and professionalism and maintain confidentiality
  • Working knowledge of chemical manufacturing operations preferred

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field is required; Master’s degree, PHR, SPHR are preferred
