Job Description
Position Summary
The incumbent performs scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance and repairs on company equipment in the field, tank farms, pump stations, offices, and other company facilities. He or she will require a working knowledge of electrical and SCADA equipment. In addition, the incumbent often works without supervision, oversees contractors and may perform work on the pipeline.
Responsibilities
• Manage electrical projects from start to completion
• A thorough understanding of networks and Control Center needs associated with all aspects of data acquisition in field pipeline operations
• Make program changes as needed to systems controlling station operations via various PLC manufactures
• Ability to perform advanced programming of various programmable controllers and program various HMI’s used in area
• Able to diagnose all communications hardware including radio equipment, satellite and leased circuits
• Strong working knowledge of Data Communications interfaces and protocols, familiar with point to point, multi-drop and repeaters
• Proficient in electrical and mechanical systems related to industrial process equipment
- Review and update station drawings
- Troubleshoot high voltage switch gear
- Good leadership skills and the ability to train others. Interacts and directs contractors as required
• Install conduit and associated wiring in accordance to engineered drawings
• Completes all necessary paperwork for regulatory compliance on I&E equipment
• Schedules and performs inspections and maintenance of electrical equipment at substations, pump stations, valve and manifold sites, etc.
• Inspect and repair AC/DC equipment including emergency battery back-up power devices
• Proficient in basic programming capabilities of various programmable controllers
- Install, program and troubleshoot various electronic metering devices
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical degree is a plus
- 5 years of field experience required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Read and comprehend electrical drawings, technical operational manuals, perform load studies and related calculations
- QC experience a plus
- Proficient with different electrical test equipment i.e., voltmeters, meggers and scopes.
- Knowledge of basic NEC code requirements and specifications associated with pipeline operations as well as all applicable governmental regulations
- Proficient with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), flow computers, UPS system, inverters, and back-up battery systems maintenance, proficiency in troubleshooting and repair of motor starters/capacitors, field tank gauges, transmitters, relay controlled field devices, LACT units and associated timers and controls, familiarity with electrical theory and electrical skills.
- Experience with high voltage electrical systems and safety
- Proficient in MS Office
- Experience in substation and switchgear work
- Knowledgeable in all types of protective devices associated with pipeline operations, including mechanical and solid-state protective relays, breakers, motor windings, RTDs, temperature transmitters and vibration sensors/recorders, and associated devices
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
