JOB DESCRIPTION

The Sales Engineer is responsible for generating a forecasted sales/gross margin and managing all aspects of sales and customer service in specific assigned territory and accounts. The Sales Engineer develops and nurtures relationships with account decision makers to influence purchasing decisions and to maximize JCI's competitive position in the account. The Sales Engineer is seen as a "solutions provider" by our customers and is expected to professionally represent JCI Industries and our vendor partners.

Job Functions

  • Calls on decision makers in the market place who are in a position to specify or purchase JCI products and services
  • Conducts product presentations and demonstrations to enhance the knowledge and product awareness of current and potential customers
  • Establishes rapport and engages in joint sales calls with manufacturers JCI represents in the market place
  • Attends and participates in sales and other company meetings as required
  • Is the "eyes and ears" of JCI Industries in the market place
  • Maintains high knowledge level of products, processes and the latest industry trends
  • From time to time works on equipment in a maintenance setting with or without the customer
  • Entertains customers and/or vendors after hours to strengthen relationships.
  • Provides start-up service and support when required

Requirements
  • Engineering, technical degree, and/or sales experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • An understanding of rotating equipment, fabrication/manufacturing of equipment and machine shop practices
  • Prior experience in plant operations preferred
  • Strong computer skills with PC's and related software, such as MS Office products
  • Ability to work autonomously and on a team
