PRIMARY PURPOSECoordinates all aspects of materials management for Laboratory Services. Oversees laboratory inventory control system in accordance with CLIA regulations and ensures accurate and current account of hospital inventory.MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONSEducation- Must have Associate's Degree in Business or related field.Experience- Must have five years progressively responsible experience working in an automated inventory environment.Equivalent Education and/or Experience- May have an equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.Certification/Registration/Licensure- N/ASkills or Special Abilities- Must be able to demonstrate good organizational, leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.- Must demonstrate proficiency in inventory control procedures and user functions of the inventory processing system.- Must demonstrate proficiency in operating a PC, Excel and WORD; mainframe applications such as Lawson, Kaufman Hall- Must be able to communicate effectively with hospital employees of all levels and vendors to resolve inventory problems.Responsibilities 1. Coordinates inventory and supply distribution operations for all cost centers within the Laboratory Services Division while providing optimal service to both internal and external customers.2. Reviews and verifies accuracy of all inventory checklists, purchase orders, etc. to ensure accurate inventory control records and management. Coordinates with Laboratory personnel to assure correct orders placed, received, and monitor utilization.3. Maintains accurate and detailed inventory records to provide appropriate staff with comprehensive inventory information as needed for forecasting & budgeting. Coordinates any additions or deletions on the item master in conjunction with contractual changes.4. Analyzes Supply Chain processes within all lab areas and reconciles inventory counts, assures products are under contract and added to the Lawson Item Master list. Recommends PARlevels for optimal cost-effectiveness and utilization.5. Assure inventory control system is compliant with CLIA regulations of Lab testing supplies. Will act as a representative of inventory management upon CLIA/CAP regulatory surveys.6. Performs quality and process improvement projects in inventory management. Is the lead resource in Laboratory Services for any process improvement pilot programs. Conducts supply expiration audits to minimize wastage in the Laboratories. Monitors work processes, work flows, etc. for optimal inventory control. Implements appropriate changes to improve effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency that support the overall goals of the department and Parkland.7. Attends departmental and interdepartmental meetings and serves on various committees as assigned. Coordinates and provides internal training/communication to appropriate Laboratory personnel as needed.8. Maintains a positive working relationship with management, vendors, laboratory personnel, and support departments, to ensure open communication and improve overall Laboratory services, and ensure effective departmental operations.9. Identifies problems and determines corrective action needed with purchase orders, invoices, costs or deliveries. Ensure accurate accounting of funds and integrity of systems.Job Accountabilities 1. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.2. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.3. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans.
