Job Description

The Lead Wellness Nurse is responsible for oversight of the day to day activities in Assisted Living (AL), including resident services, staff management, general administration and physical maintenance. Provision of excellent resident services in accordance with all applicable law and regulations to achieve a deficiency-free survey is essential. Supervision of the AL must be in strict accordance with FEC’s policies and procedures, with an emphasis on effective and efficient realization of the company goals. The Lead Wellness Nurse must keep in mind that maintaining excellent service, high occupancy, and high resident and staff satisfaction is always the goal of the Community

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

·       Greets prospective residents/visitors and asks about their reasons for considering our community. Establishes rapport to facilitate accommodating, individual prospect’s needs.

·       Is knowledgeable about the community and has methods for explaining the community lifestyle to

·       At the administrator’s direction, secures all necessary forms in the resident’s file and sees that information regarding the new resident is communicated to all department heads.

·       Gives clients all pertinent information regarding requirements for residency as directed by the administrator.

·       Follows through on all assignments as directed by the administrator.  Works closely with other departments to be sure work in complete. 

·       Is available to work all shifts; to include weekends.

·       Monitors clinical quality of service in the Hospitality Department

·       Assist Administrator in the pre-admission evaluations as assigned

·       Assists in Supervising shift supervisors and help them coordinate daily care. Make sure supervisors are able to handle day to day problems and assist them as needed.

·       Follows up with routine look behind to make sure supervisors and PCAs are doing their assignments.

·       Assists in Supervising, provides guidance and assists each shift supervisor to evaluate all residents care staff in order to provide quality services to all of the individuals we serve on all shifts.

·       Delegate's responsibilities to resident care staff to comply with ALF standards.

·       Assure that any medical problems are communicated to the Administrator as necessary and follow up of these communications by logging.

·       During medical emergencies, determine action necessary and initiate 911 procedures when applicable.

·       Assists in overseeing work schedules and staffing as developed by each shift supervisor to ensure sufficient staff coverage and provide for it when necessary. In the event that staffing difficulties arise, refer to the Administrator for clarification and assistance with scheduling problems.

·       Take call-off rotation.

·       Initiate counseling statements, disciplinary action merit statements with nursing staff director.

·       Assist each shift supervisor to evaluate the performance of the floor staff (90-day/annual evaluations and proficiency checklist) and have administrator serve as reviewing officer in advance.

·       Meet new residents we serve immediately (within hours after admission). Make an initial admission note.

·       Assists in ensuring that all staff on floor has appropriate equipment to properly carry out responsible duties.

·       Assists in ensuring resident care staff has the following in-service training and necessary orientation and documentation:

 

--Health maintenance, observation and related procedures.

 

--Accident prevention and related procedures

--Health emergencies, first aid related procedures.

 

--Current and revised individuals we serve care procedures.

--Interstaff communication patterns, expectations and chain of command explained to all staff.

 

  • Be available via phone for consultation on non-clinical issues after normal work hours to ensure proper services are provided to facility, individuals we serve.

 

  • Be available to facility Administrator, if necessary, during times of natural disasters (i.e. Hurricane, tornados, fire, etc.)

 

  • Follow resident's activity schedules and assist in all aspects of resident activities, as necessary.

 

  • Assist in scheduling and coordinate all out-of-facility medical appointments for resident we serve

 

  • Perform other duties related to the job as required by and the Administrator.
