Summary / Role Purpose

This role will be a hybrid focusing mainly in LC Operations, including managing the LC budget, invoicing through SimpleLegal and liaising with FP&A; managing the LC forecast and reconciliation across multiple platforms including Siebel, Salesforce, Power BI and liaising with Sales Comp to report on LC credits; manage Power of Attorneys, notarizations and other legal certificates working with the legal team, legal firms and external legal contractors; support copyright certification registrations working with IP/legal, R&D and external contractors; manage blanket POs and business case approvals for legal firms, consultancies, contractors, software vendors and other suppliers working with legal, procurement and Sales.

The License Compliance Investigator II (LCI2) is also responsible for identifying and developing opportunities to generate business through license compliance cases and/or software audits in secondary markets and typically supporting external legal firms and channel partners. The LCI2 needs to independently analyze infringement data collected by the Call Home solutions, build a LC compliance case, and provide guidance to the LC Sales Specialist, sales team, and channel partners to lead to a resolution of the LC case.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify LC leads (antipiracy). The LCI2 will use the Case Management Software to identify, manage, track and document Copyright infringements identified through the Case Management Software, CRM and other databases or registered by Channel Partners, or submitted by 3rd-party LC agencies.


  • Analyze CRM information to prepare software audits. The LCI2 will use the CRM to analyze and prepare detailed reports of accounts and their estate for software audits and review the reports with the 3rd-party software auditors and LC Specialists.


  • Manage the LC budget, LC forecasting and sales comp reporting, PoA and legal documents for LC cases, opportunity and forecast reconciliation across multiple CRMs and tools. The LCI will work with a cross-functional team, including legal firms, legal, FP&A, procurement, sales, and external suppliers, to support new executive summaries to onboard new legal firms and suppliers, balance the budget, reconcile the LC forecast and report credits to sales comp.


  • Research LC cases (antipiracy) . The LCI2 will convert LC leads into LC cases by following the LC Investigation process i.e., identify the individual infringers using publicly available and commercial databases including LinkedIn and job boards; confirm the correct identification of the infringing organization using TCP/IP tools and databases; compare the infringed licenses with assets and entitlements in the CRM; examine the account history in the CRM and other databases. In addition, while working on a case, the LCI2 will troubleshoot and report data issues for escalation to the call home vendors.


  • Prepare documentation to transfer LC cases to the LC Specialist and/or Legal Firms and/or LC Agencies . Use the Case Management Software to document the case investigation and maintain historical records for all LC cases; find, access and update case information; and share critical case information across the LC organization. In addition, the LCI2 will coordinate calls and one-on-ones with the LC Specialist, Legal Firm and/or LC Agency to review, continue to investigate and transfer the case.


  • Prepare and courier License Compliance Letters. After reviewing a case with the LC Specialist or software auditors , the LCI2 will use templates to prepare license compliance letters and courier and/or e-mail them according to the local License Compliance process. In addition, the LCI2 will document all communications using the Case Management Software.


  • Participate in LC calls with other teams and 3rd-parties . Participate and, if necessary, coordinate calls with the LC Specialist, Sales, Channel Partners, Legal Firms, LC agencies and/or 3rd-party software auditors to transfer, continue to investigate, review and/or or work on LC cases.


Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
  • Fluent in English and in the local language of the territory
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or Law, or relevant qualification or work experience
  • Must have at least 5 years of work experience in the software industry
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Adept at learning new IT skills


Preferred Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience in License Compliance, Intellectual Property Law, Software Asset Management, Software Audit, and/or Data Analytics
  • Demonstrated integrity and confidentiality
  • Ability to foster teamwork
