Job Summary

Foltsbrook Center Nursing & Rehabilitation has immediate full-time positions available for Licensed Practical Nurses at our facility on 104 N. Washington St, Herkimer, NY 13350.

This position offers flexibility of scheduling (i.e., four 10-hour shifts, three 12-hour double shifts).

The Licensed Practical Nurse is a licensed health care provider who provides nursing care under the guidance of our Registered Nurses’ supervision. Our Licensed Practical Nurses are asked to assist in offering clinical tasks as well as patient care. In addition to clinical tasks, and offering quality patient care, the LPN will collaboratively assist other members of staff throughout the floors with our patients’ everyday necessities and help ensure that certified nursing assistants are able to be taught proper guidance with assisting our patients as well. This position is both internal, and external in the sense that we can offer an excellence of patient quality of care throughout each, and every shift.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications as prescribed by patients’ corresponding physicians.
• Assisting and directing Certified Nursing Assistants in adequately addressing patients’ needs throughout the duration of their shift.
• Assists in preparing patients for examination and treatment by interviewing patients to obtain medical information and measuring their vital signs, height and weight.
• Conducts dressing changes, applying aseptic techniques, including sterile dressings to ensure infection control per provider orders.
• Ensure patients’ safety throughout their shift, as well as transitioning shifts.
• Possesses knowledge of medical terminology, office procedures and insurance requirements.
• Prepares the patient’s medical record for the provider.
• Provides basic medical care as ordered. Prepares and Administers medications/ immunizations and treatments as directed. Assists other health care professionals in performing exams, diagnostic procedures and treatments, and minor medical procedures.
• Understands and implements all nursing procedures, manuals, office policies, protocols and OSHA Standards.

Requirements

• Current valid licensure as a Practical Nurse in the State of New York required.
• Current up-to-date Basic Life Support certification required.

This position offers a $1500 signing bonus**
