Compensation Minimum:$76,900

Compensation Maximum:$123,200

Summary:

The External Sales Advisor uses proactive, consultative skills to identify strategies and opportunities to help protect more customers with life insurance through various distribution models. Performs joint sales calls with agents, coaches agents on best practices, delivers expertise in group settings and partners with talent development during life week of NATP and Life Insurance focused training sessions. The Sales Advisor develops strong relationships with agents and field management to promote life sales as well as professional relationships with attorneys and CPAs to assist agents in addressing client needs. The Life Sales Advisor leverages technology to connect and interact with agents and field management when necessary and to increase efficiency.


Job Description:

Primary Accountabilities

  • Identifies and develops sales strategies designed to increase the sales success of the field sales force and enhance the experience of American Family customers. Communicates product sales opportunities and strategies and product or procedure changes/enhancements.
  • Participates in the design and implementation of Life company programs to increase life sales with distribution partners. Contributes to the execution of Life Company strategies.
  • Completes analysis of geographic region that identifies trends and potential areas of strength and opportunity. Identifies unarticulated expectations and presents unsolicited proposals to help company leadership and management achieve business goals.
  • Provides recommendations or solutions when working with distribution partners. Continually monitors the fields’ threshold for acceptance of recommendations and refines approach and expectations as required.
  • Works with assigned state leadership teams to develop and execute sales state life initiatives.
  • Provides prospecting, sales skill and product knowledge coaching. Assist agents with reviewing their book of business to identify immediate and potential sales opportunities. Assists agents in identifying sales opportunities. Regularly updates agents on industry trends.
  • Provides field management and agents with a high level of life insurance technical expertise, knowledge of emerging trends and sales support via in-person presentations, virtual meetings, e-mail, and phone contact. 
  • Provides product information, customer planning solutions and sales assistance.  Demonstrates thorough knowledge to illustrate and position our products in an innovative way.
  • Performs joint sales calls with agents to assist in the sale of life insurance and annuity products.
  • Works with talent development partners in supporting and enhancing life sales strategies and initiatives as opportunities present themselves.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service
  • Extensive experience selling or coaching sales professionals in advanced markets.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of life products and industry trends.
  • Extensive sales experience with life or annuity products or experience with assisting agents in closing sales.
  • Valid driver's license required plus an acceptable driving record.
Education/Licenses/Designations
  • CLU, ChFC, or CFP designation must be obtained within a specific timeframe, as defined by the manager.
  • Must have or obtain proper Life insurance license within three months of hire. License maintenance and continuing education required.
Travel Requirements
  • This position requires travel up to 75% of the time.

Additional Job Information:

  • This role may require participation in direct to customer sales generated from warm leads and/or appointments set.
  • Up to 50% travel required.
  • Travel for this position is local to Indiana and has limited overnight travel.
