Our Loss Prevention Department within The TJX Companies, Inc. represents one of the largest and progressive organizations in retail. We collaborate and provide support to all aspects of our business including, Home Office, Stores, Distribution Centers and Buying Offices. While each chain maintains an individual brand, we have implemented a One TJX approach in our U.S. Divisions to positively impact and mitigate loss. Being a Fortune 100 company and the leading off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions in the U.S. and worldwide, TJX relies on our Loss Prevention teams to protect our Company assets in order to fuel our growing multi-billion-dollar businesses.


The Opportunity: Learn. Collaborate. Lead.

As a Loss Prevention intern in one of our Home Office locations, you will be an integral part in protecting the stores’ merchandise and assets from internal and external theft. For 12 weeks through the summer, you will join our Loss Prevention team in one of our Home Office locations. You will have the opportunity to learn about the corporate structure of loss prevention and the teams that provide support to the entire department, including Stores and Distribution Centers. Additionally, you will and receive robust training and leadership development through a mix of classroom learning, on-the-job training and ongoing mentorship from your leadership team.


Through this internship, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Gain an introduction to retail Loss Prevention
  • Take a hands-on approach when leading teams
  • Participate in theft investigations
  • Identify and resolve shrink control deficiencies
  • Learn from and collaborate with loss prevention leaders
  • Learn how retail operations within our Home Office, Distribution Centers and Stores operate


You’ll also have an opportunity to collaborate with other interns on a team project and deliver a final presentation to Loss Prevention executive leadership team members upon the completion of your internship.

Ideal candidates will be strong, curious leaders with a keen eye for team leadership and process optimization. At TJX, you will grow your leadership skills and off-price retail knowledge to put them to use as part of a collaborative team working towards executing, delivering, and achieving business goals and objectives. We are looking for natural leaders who never stop looking for efficiencies, improvements and new ways to motivate a team.


Specifically, we’re looking for:

  • Rising Juniors and Seniors currently enrolled in a 4-year degree program
  • Criminal Justice, Business, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Engineering/Analysis or related major (other majors may be considered)
  • Strong analytical thinking and sophisticated problem-solving skills
  • Proven strong communication skills and team collaboration abilities
  • Desire to grow as a leader
  • The confidence and flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • An entrepreneurial drive, worth ethic, and business acumen
  • Ability to have direct, candid, and productive conversations around performance
  • Ability to relocate and work a flexible work schedule depending on business needs
