JOB DESCRIPTION

The Machinist - PAMA performs first article evaluation of new programs, including tooling and documentation, from Manufacturing Engineering before release to operations, and operates CNC multi-axis machine centers to produce production parts and end products. The Machinist - PAMA is a multi-machine cell resource, filling in where needed to meet production demands, and may act as the lead training & feedback resource for new product development, improvement initiatives and machine department instruction.

POSITION SUMMARY:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Operates multi-axis PAMA machine required to manufacture complex parts and tools
• Load raw material into dedicated work holding devices for process
• Replace cutting tools as required for the job, and all tool sets are selected and provided by the tool crib
• Provided feedback and suggestions to continuously improve the quality of manufacturing processes
• Assure all documentation created for the job is accurate and complete
• Evaluate and revise programs released to production to ensure optimization, and ensure revised programs are cataloged for future use
• Follow technical requirements for manufacturing and producibility on PAMA, including fixture and part setup procedures
• Audit, confirm and identify all ancillary tooling components
• Utilize bore gauges, hydrometer, etc. to correctly configure product within the machine
• Develop and perform TPM (total productive maintenance) and 5S activities
• Actively participate in safety initiatives and help drive the facility to meet safety goals
• Perform all other tasks, as assigned by the Group Leaders or Value Stream Manager(s)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• High school diploma (required) or two-year degree (desired, not required)
• Experience with machined parts
• Knowledge of the operations of CNC Milling and Turning Equipment (desired, not required)
• Able to read production prints/drawings
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral procedures
• Good math skills
• Problem Solving Analysis (desirable)
• Basic experience with precision measurement equipment, calipers, micrometers, etc.
• Comfortable with basic computer applications, Windows, MS-Office (Word, Excel)
• Proper safe use of all hand tools.
• Ability to handle all materials safely using a jib hoist or overhead crane and forklift, including lifting devices (chains, straps, slings).

Work environment:
• Exposure to typical manufacturing areas is required and will require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection.
• Manual dexterity and mobility to move within plant/area as assigned.
• Exposure to climate conditions must be able to withstand periods of heat and cold.
