PRIMARY PURPOSE

Manages and directs all aspects of respiratory care operations and planning within the area. Coordinates with other area managers to ensure common departmental goals are met. Acts as a liaison to physicians, administration, patients/families, and other disciplines for the department.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Education:

-Must be a graduate of a Respiratory Care Program from an accredited American Medical Association (AMA) program.

-Must have an Associate's degree in Respiratory Care.

-Prefer a Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care, Business Administration, Health Care Management or Science.

Experience:

-Must have six years of Respiratory Care Practitioner experience, to include two years of supervisory experience.

Certification/Registration/Licensure:

-Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care, Inc. (NBRC).

-Must have a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license from either the Texas Department of State Health Services OR Texas Medical Board.

--Must have a current Healthcare Provider CPR course completion card prior to hire and/or placement in job from one of the following:

o American Heart Association

o American Red Cross Rescuer

o Military Training Network.

-Prefer certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).

Skills or Special Abilities:

-Must possess good team building and management skills.

-Must be able to communicate effectively and good interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels of staff, management, physicians and the public.

-Must be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of respiratory care techniques.

-Must demonstrate patient centered patient valued behaviors.
