Position Summary:
Major and established brand name company with a good working culture has an opportunity in the south suburban area of the Atlanta, GA for a Manufacturing Engineer – Plastics. In this capacity will design, plan, facilitate and lead; Will
develop and implement improved ways to extract, process, and use raw materials; Will develop new materials that both improve the performance of products and take advantage of advances in technology; Will analyze the impact of the products they develop or the systems they design on the environment and on people using them; Will determine the causes of breakdowns; Will test manufactured products to maintain quality; Will estimate the time and cost to complete projects; Will be involved with New Model support and development; Will be involved with Controls Support; Will be involved with Robot Programing; Also will be involved with adhesive and chemical application. There is 2% profit sharing, quarterly bonus potential as well as major company benefits and relocation assistance associated with this position.

Job Responsibilities:
Manufacturing engineering position within the Manufacturing Engineer Group supporting Plastics, including SMC press engineering, water jet, bonding and foaming engineering duties.
Responsible for all aspects of manufacturing engineering analysis and design.
Provides leadership in the design and development of Engineering projects with minimal direct supervision.
Provides leadership in the shop floor support and Kaizen activities within the respective department and directs the activities of project teams and small group activities.
Performs process analysis and design and applies formal design of experiment techniques.
Provides direction to other engineers as well as maintenance and Unit Technicians.
Manages major capital projects and provides capital forecasts.
Serve as active member of Manufacturing Engineering Team.
Provides leadership to the Kaizen and process improvement activities with the production and maintenance personnel.
Trains others in formal engineering problem solving techniques.
Communicates to all appropriate levels/organizations within company.

Qualifications:

Education / Experience:
4-year technical degree (i.e., mechanical, manufacturing, plastics, controls, automotive or related) required and 6-8 years of experience in an engineering role in a manufacturing environment or high school diploma or equivalent and 15-20 years of experience in a hands on engineering role.

Other Required Skills:
Some previous experience in injection mold plastics, SMC press, robot programming in a fast paced high volume production environment.

Preferred Skills:

Mechanical knowledge of pumps, machines, pnuematics, hydraulics, welding, and machining.

Electrical knowledge of general equipment circuitry and trouble shooting.


Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly.

Drive Forklift.

Additional Requirements:

Good planning and project leadership skills. ISO experience is preferred.
