Job Summary:
This position is accountable for providing technical/maintenance planning support to mechanical maintenance department for the rotating, reciprocating, and fixed plant assets. The Mechanical Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning daily maintenance work and long-term project work including shutdowns, and turnarounds in a correct and efficient manner. The Mechanical Maintenance Planner will work in the plants Work Management Information System (WMIS) to plan jobs for execution by the maintenance technicians and welders. This includes preparing complete job packages and ordering parts for the specific job. Other tasks include but are not limited to being a technical resource in the field, field verification, specifying applicable equipment, developing cost and scheduling estimates. The Mechanical Maintenance Planner is responsible to ensure design safety by incorporating CF standards, government codes, and sound engineering design practices.
Job Description:
- Ensures orderly flow of the work order system to make sure all work requested by the customer is completed on a timely basis as indicated by the work priority.
- Works with internal procurement and engineering team members as well as outside suppliers as required to order all non-stock parts and materials required to complete tasks.
- Maintains fixed, rotating, and mechanical equipment records such as Bills of Material and specification sheets within the WMIS.
- Maintains and updates a Preventative Maintenance (PM) program.
- Participates in planning detailed shutdown and turnaround work.
- Plans for safe completion of all non-emergency work orders, including labor estimates and parts/materials needed by reserving stock materials for jobs, specifying tools and safety procedures required, identifying any special equipment needed while coordinating with other department team members as needed to ensure the plan can be successfully executed.
- Consults with the maintenance and I&E supervisors, technicians, engineers, and contractors during job execution as necessary.
- Works with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to coordinate installation, maintenance, enhancement and upgrade of the plant systems.
- Responds to operations as necessary to troubleshoot and repair plant equipment.
- Works with the maintenance manager, maintenance engineer, and maintenance supervisor to develop criteria for frequency of preventative maintenance on equipment
- Reviews all field data for completeness, consults with maintenance supervision, and recommends corrective action or further repairs.
- Prepares job summaries for entry into the equipment history files and monitors equipment history for frequent failures or for excessive repair costs.
- Responsible for Management of Change (MOC) procedure resulting from and modifying current equipment or a new installation.
- Maintains comprehensive and compliance with established department processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with two years of industry experience, or a construction management degree with two years of industry experience, or a journeyman millwright certification or a qualified maintenance technician with a minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience or a planner in an industrial/chemical setting. Previous planning or supervisory experience is preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, strong analytical, troubleshooting and decision-making skills required.
- Strong organization skills, attention to detail and be ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of fixed, rotating, and mechanical equipment including but not limited to pumps, compressors, steam turbines, heat exchanges, piping, motors, large industrial fans, gear boxes, valves, and safety devices.
- Strong knowledge of welding is preferred.
- Strong computer skills in a Windows environment a must.
- Must be able to climb towers and enter confined spaces and the ability to lift 50 pounds with or without accommodations.
