Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Director of Case Management and Social Service, the Medical Social Worker provides professional level psychosocial assessment and social work services to patients and families. Develops appropriate treatment programs for patients and families to address the emotional aspects of an acute illness. Participate in hospital committees. Provides consultation to staff. Maintains a good working relationship with nursing, medical and other related as required.


Licensure/Certification/Registration: Associate clinical social worker license desired. LCSW preferred. 

 

Education: 

  • Masters in Social Work (MSW) degree from a graduate school of social work accredited by the Counsel of Social Work Education.
  • Masters in Counseling or related field. 

 

Experience: Experience working with patients and families desirable, knowledge of the community is desirable. Membership in N.A.S.W. and the Academy of Certified Social Workers (A.C.S.W.) is desirable.

 

Special Qualifications: Must possess knowledge of psychosocial aspects of illness, disability and deaths and be able to apply this knowledge in a professional and understanding manner in direct social work services to patients and families and in consultation with staff.
