Summary:

Laboratory Assistant needed for busy CLIA-licensed, AABB-accredited molecular testing laboratory responsible for patient and blood donor high-complexity molecular testing. The lab receives specimens from patients and blood samples from across the US. The responsibilities of this position include receiving accessioning specimens as well as answering customer email and telephone communications, some data entry, and general administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive customer calls, including orders for antigen negative blood products
  • Operate, maintain, and may perform quality control checks on laboratory equipment.
  • Perform receiving, inspection, and storage of IRL supplies and reagents.
  • May perform manufacturing duties associated with special blood products, if applicable.
  • May perform donor product inventory management.
  • May perform labeling and verification of blood products.
  • Maintain accurate, legible, and complete records.
  • May perform duties associated with receipt, coordination, shipment, and transport of patient and donor blood samples.
  • May monitor temperatures of blood products and donor/patient samples.
  • Adhere to procedures and good manufacturing practices (GMP).


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of laboratory experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Associate degree (AS) or higher preferred.
  • Computer experience and familiarity with office automation (e.g. MS Word) desired.
