POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary task for the Retail/Rental Shop’s Bike Mechanic is to complete required and preventative maintenance along with record keeping; on the First Run Ski Shop rental and demo bike fleet. This position will be required to work a variety daytime, weekend and holiday shifts with the goal being to maximize the available rental fleet each day.  The Rental Bike Shop mechanic will be required to work unsupervised at times and should be able to demonstrate a track record of success in this type of roll, especially in the area of suspension maintenance and repair. Some interaction with suppliers will be required for training, support and warranty issues. The mechanic will also be required to assist with the rental techs with public rental fitting as required. 

This position would transition into the winter season, becoming a sales associate in selling, renting and skis as well as fitting ski and snowboard boots.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES  

  • Responsible for continued maintenance of mountain bike rental fleet, especially working with Fox and Rockshox suspensions  
  • Repair, maintenance and service of customer bikes  
  • Help with bike rentals when needed
  • Rental and check-in of bikes and helmets 
  • Wash bikes 
  • Work with bike technicians to ensure safety of all bike rentals 
  • Ability to complete required paperwork in an accurate and legible manor  
  • Ability to adhere to all safety policies and procedures 
  • Operate tools and equipment safely according to manufacturer’s guidelines and instructions 
  • Participating in all retail/ rental training  
  • Responsible for and be part of the team to maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Be able to communicate with others and share information regarding any and all rental and demo fleet for all seasons of available product 
  • When not working on fleet maintenance be able to work with guests and provide exceptional customer service and product knowledge
  • Collaborate with the buyer when reviewing the purchasing of rental fleet
  • Participate in all available training clinics offered from sales representatives  
  • Be accountable when working with the POS system and cash and credit handling policies and procedures
  • And any other tasks and duties that may be necessary or appropriate in order to further advance the business or guest experience.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS  

  • Education: Must have at least a High School Diploma or GED 
  • Experience: Previous experience working in a bike shop as a mechanic with an overall strong knowledge of all types of bikes required  
  • Previous experience specifically working with Rockshox and Fox suspensions required (suspension forks/spring shocks) 

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older 
  • Knowledge of Stratton’s trail system, terrain park, and summer/winter program is helpful
  • A valid driver’s license 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS  

  • Able to stand through most of shift 
  • Able to lift bikes weighing 50 lbs. or more 
  • Able have the dexterity to work with tools and small pieces  

This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
