Performs routine, complex and special Neurodiagnostic examinations for patients as directed, providing physicians diagnostic tools with which to treat patients.


1.Education/Experience:

Must have four years of technical neurodiagnostic experience to include polysomnograpy or epilepsy monitoring

2.Certification/Registration/Licensure:

A. for a laboratory or epilepsy monitoring position: must be registered by the American Board of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist (ABRET) as a registered EEG Technologist (REEGT).

B.for a sleep lab position: must be registered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT) as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).

- Must have a current Heartsaver CPR course completion card within 90 days of hire and/or placement in job from one of the following:
oAmerican Heart Association
oAmerican Red Cross Rescuer
oMilitary Training Network.



3.Skills or Special Abilities:

Must be able to obtain high quality sleep studies following established department procedures. Must be able to independently set-up, record and monitor 2 sleep studies per night, administering CPAP if indicated. Must possess ability to appropriately use PAP devices, following established guidelines. Must be able to respond appropriately in all patient-related situations and contact appropriate staff or physicians if needed. Must be familiar with digital recordings and scoring techniques. Must have ability to stage and score sleep studies using laboratory guidelines. Must have good communication skills necessary in handling difficult and severely ill patients. Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations. Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
