Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Embrace the plant’s Compelling Business Need and lead the operation toward achievement of the plant’s Vision
  • Participate in the annual Master Planning process
  • Accountable for overall results for the operation including safety, quality, cost, reliability, sustainability, and organizational development
  • Coach the management of capital projects to improve Operations measures in the areas of Safety, Quality, Production efficiencies and capacity growth.
  • Manage and develop manufacturing systems that safely increase productivity and quality while lowering costs
  • Lead autonomous maintenance integration and support
  • Facilitates the plant’s Daily Direction Setting (DDS) meeting with focus on identification of losses; assignment of in-depth failure analysis, when appropriate; and follow-up on daily action items to eliminate losses all in support of continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, and Delivery
  • Responsible for driving operational issues to root cause and developing a zero loss mentality
  • Lead, educate, motivate, coach, counsel and guide the manufacturing team to ensure that they have the ability to deliver results
  • In conjunction with the HR Manager and Director of Operations, effectively manage labor relations issues that impact the operation with a focus on consistency, while modeling our People Basic Belief
  • Ensure the essential business information is routinely and clearly communicated and employees clearly understand the operation Vision and results toward achievement of goals
  • Responsible for development and effective management of the operation’s budgets
  • Lead HSE Key Element(s) and Quality Key Element(s) as assigned
  • Support the work of all Pillar Owners & Teams and participate on the Plant Leadership Pillar team, if assigned ownership of a Pillar
  • Provide a credible sounding board and counterbalance to the Plant Manager when exploring and discussing alternatives, concepts, ideas, etc.
  • Work in unison with other functions to ensure that services, goods, materials and ingredients for the operation are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Professionally represent the plant to all constituents and stakeholders, including but not limited to: Internal Corporate Business Partners; Customers; Vendors; Contractors; Regulatory Representatives, etc.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Education

  • A Bachelor's degree is required

Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years manufacturing experience is required; 3 years in a USDA facility required
  • Demonstrated experience in building a high performance work culture and systems a must
  • Demonstrated capability in leading a large and complex operations team
  • Demonstrated experience in leading an operation where employee safety receives top priority, followed closely by product quality and productivity
