As an Outpatient Clinical Care Assistant at Cleveland Clinic’s Independence Family Health Center, you will provide or assist with basic patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Independent Provider in the Rheumatology department. As part of this team, your primary duties will include, but are not limited to, collecting vital signs, completing the rooming process, performing specialized testing, completing questionnaires and assisting with patient care as needed.

The Outpatient Clinical Care Assistant Trainee has a pay rate of $15/hour.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Completes the rooming process, to include but not limited to vitals, height, weight and completion of intake questions and reports abnormal findings to RN or LIP.
  • Collects specimens, performs Point of Care Testing, and prepares specimens for transport to lab.
  • Prepares patient for exams, tests, and procedures and assists with exams, treatments and procedures using sterile technique as applicable.
  • Assists with procedures such as EKG, Holter monitor application, pulse oximetry, hearing and vision screening, and disinfection and sterilization.
  • Assists with keeping exam rooms and clinical areas clean, orderly and stocked.
  • Documents in the electronic health record and assists with management of in-baskets.
  • Assists with clerical activities such as faxing, scanning and scheduling of appointments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Successful completion of clinical skills curriculum within twelve months of hire.

Certifications:

  • Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) required within new hire period.

  • Demonstrates a positive and sensitive response when interacting with others.
  • Requires organizational skills to set priorities, organize work activities and complete assigned work.

Work Experience:

  • Demonstrates proficiency in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at an 8th grade level.
  • Computer skills preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
  • Light work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exerts 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
